Snoqualmie Pass, WA
A reunion of Haley and Suz AND optimal Seattle weather means a hike is happening. Google Maps had it in for us and rerouted us so many times on the way to our original hike that we decided to join the ridiculous amounts of people also hiking Rattlesnake. We had done this one already awhile back but only saw fog at the top because our timing that day was childlike and unsuccessful. Luckily this go round proved to be a source of panoramic VIEWS and a potpourri of characters to keep us entertained.
As the most popular hike for non-hikers in the Seattle area, we were prepared to see a lot of people going up and down the mountain with regret written all over their faces due to their denim attire. Or so we thought we were prepared. 51 - I KID YOU NOT - 51 people were wearing jeans. And a bonus Jean Count includes FOUR people wearing overalls. Unreal.
Now, it was not possible to count the amount of people in sweatpants on the hike but there were four individuals that had some fashun-able velour sweats that were hard to miss. Two of them even had matching zip ups.
This hike isn’t just popular for Seattlites. Apparently its popular cross continents because there was a group of people Facetiming the hike to relatives back in mother Russia. A stat that has not been logged on here before - 1 Facetime hiker.
1 amazing and strong mom who carried her full on toddler up the mountain on her back and all the child’s dead weight from passing out. She won the day for sure - and definitely got her steps in.
1 opportune popsicle stand at the base of the mountain allowing parents to bribe their kids for some extra exercise and 5 minutes of no complaining. Well played popsicle stand, well played.
Its a quick and relatively easy hike to pump out and while it can be crowded at the top, if you can find a little corner to sit down and take it in, its so so worth it. For more, go here.
